oops!

Unfortunately, mistakes happen. I apologize for any inconvenience they may have caused and ask that you let me know if you find one, so I can correct them for you and everyone else.

Thank you,

English Garden: (From Kaleidoscope the Smart Way)
Please Note:

Contrary to some of the illustrations, all colored Kaleidoscope points should be the same fabric as the Churn Dash side centers. Please use the actual quilt photo as a guide if needed.

Thank you Connie Farland for catching this.

Pink Lemonade: (From Kaleidoscope the Smart Way)
Making the Alternating blocks.

Only 18, not 36, 4 3/4" segments are needed from the triple strip-set. Therefore, only 3 strip-sets need to be prepared.

Thank you Suzzy Thomas for finding that error. (Please send me the picture of your quilt. I'd love to see it.)

Cooper Weekend Tote:
Fabric Amounts:

Lining fabric: 3/4-7/8 yard is suggested

CLASSIC BLUE AND WHITE: (From Kaleidoscope the Smart Way)
Page 61 in Kaleidoscope the Smart Way

Borders for top and bottom should be cut 42 1/2" to allow for the side borders which would have already been attached.

I apologize for any inconvenience.

Thank you, Connie Farland, for finding that mistake

Book Cover Quilt

Alternate Design Option by Sue McBride
Sue took my Kaleidoscope class at the July 2009 AQS Quilt Expo in Knoxville, TN.

She suggests to use a red corner in place of the orange corner pieces that are opposite from the yellow corners in the 4 center blocks of orange and yellow as illustrated in the pattern. Frankly, I agree. Thanks Sue!  (Designer used a "reddish-orange" fabric)

Please note there are two versions of the Smart-Plate.

The two designs work exactly the same with the exception of making smaller sizes of the 12-Patch version and Combination Blocks.

If you have version 2, the Smart-Plate will have guidelines on two adjacent "Corner-Cut" wedges and will work according to the instructions given in the book.

If, however, your template is the original design, there will be only one "Corner-Cut" wedge with guidelines. Please follow the directions below for making the 12-Patch version and Combination Blocks if you are working with the original design of the Smart-Plate.

Align the appropriately sized "V" of the "Corner Cut" section of the template on the seam lines of the corner to be trimmed away.  Use a rotary cutter to trim away the corner piece, using the straight edge of the template to cut against. Rotate the block and repeat for the next wedge, until all desired wedge corners are trimmed. Cut all 8 wedges to create an octagon shape. (These markings are the same for right-handed and left-handed quilters.)

Note: The markings on the ruler are the FINISHED block size. Your cut block will measure ½" larger to allow for seam allowance.
