The Kaleidoscope Smart-Plate^® is designed to take a simple basic Pin-wheel and trim it at the appropriate angle to create the traditional Kaleidoscope block. The Template is placed with it's guidelines aligned with the seams on the pinwheel. Depending on the desired version of the block, the template is rotated to allow trimming excess fabric from the Pin-Wheel block.

I know the next question will be, "What size SQUARE do I start with for the size HST I want to make?"

As noted on the Extended Table, add 3/8" to the listed UNFINISHED size of the HST you are making. For those of you who are familiar with the "Add 7/8" ", please realize that you would be adding the 7/8" to the FINISHED size, not unfinished.
