The Kaleidoscope Smart-Plate (R) was designed specifically for the beginning quilter. I took the Kaleidoscope block, which has always been considered challenging to piece and made it so easy that even quilters who have just learned to make a half square triangle patch, a real beginner could have great success in making it.  Understanding the mindset of the beginning quilter and their fear of pushing themselves beyond their quilt-making comfort zone, we must realize that if they find a technique too complicated, because it was taught incorrectly it would be disappointing to the student, and unfortunate for all, the teacher, the shop, AND myself, the designer and inventor of this technique and tool. The students' success in using the technique is the key to their completing their projects, and keeping them coming back to your shop and your classes.

Shop owners and teachers are welcome to offer classes on using the Kaleidoscope Smart-Plate with projects from my book, Kaleidoscope the Smart Way (AQS Pub. 2009), or my various patterns which use the Smart-Plate to achieve a kaleidoscope blocks or tilted blocks.

It is advised that you take a full day workshop with me to learn my various techniques so you can teach them to your students the way I intended for them to be taught. Although, I do not require attending a special "certifying" class in order to teach my techniques, teaching my techniques correctly is very important to me. Therefore, I have decided to also offer the Kaleidoscope the Smart Way Kits.

Kits include an assortment of templates and patterns, as well as, a class syllabus. The syllabus is designed to aid you in planning your classes and offers tips on teaching the Smart-Plate technique. - Contact me for more details.
